Classic Southern Pecan Pie

Ingredients:
- Prepared frozen or refrigerated pastry for one crust 9-inch pie
- 4 - eggs
- 1 (1-lb.) pkg. - Light Brown Sugar (approx. 2 1/3 cups)
- 3/4 cup - water
- 1 cup (4 oz.) - pecan halves
- 1/4 cup - butter or margarine, softened
- 1 teaspoon - vanilla

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Line 9-inch pie pan with pastry; trim and flute edges.
3. Beat eggs in a small bowl until frothy; set aside.
4. Combine sugar and water in 2-quart heavy saucepan.
5. Place over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
6. Bring to a full rolling boil and cook for 3 minutes.
7. Gradually stir hot syrup into eggs.
8. Add pecans, butter and vanilla to mixture.
9. Pour filling into pastry-lined pie pan.
10.Bake at 350°F for 45 to 50 minutes or until set.
11.Cool.
12.Makes 8 to 10 servings.
