Ingredients:
- 4 Cups all- purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4 Tablespoons shortening
- 1 1/2 Cup warm water(approximately)

Directions:
1. Combind dry ingredients, then cut shortening into dry
ingredients with a pastry blender.
2. add warm water a few drops at a time and work dough
with hands until manageable.
3. Knead dough 15-20 times, allow to stand for 10 minutes.
4. Form into balls the size of an egg and roll them out
until they are fairly thin. Roll from center of ball
outward to make a good circle.
5. Place on hot griddle and cook about 2 minutes on one side
and about 1 minute on the other.
6. Stack in a towel to be soft and warm.
7. Yield = 8 - 10 tortillas
8. Temp. 420 - 450 F

*** This is the very recipe we were given in 1973, I wish you could
see the memographed original, when I get back from Germany I will scan it and include a
copy... it is quite a sight. (and i'm sure not all of you know what a memograph copy is...)
